Dr. Tanja Werner explains direct and indirect effects of magnesium on cellular mechanisms. In addition, she reviews existing research on the correlation between magnesium intake and risk of type II diabetes. Current status of research relating to correlation of magnesium supplementation and course of disease in pre-diabetic and diabetic patients will be presented. Dr. Werner will also present her recent pilot study results examining magnesium supplementation in untreated pre-diabetic, hypertensive subjects without hypomagnesemia.
